Hui-ā-Tau is the flagship annual gathering for Te Puna Tahua Toa — a cornerstone on our calendar for nearly two decades. Established in 2004, TPTT/NKMoA has held regular Hui-ā-Tau to grow the network, develop Māori accounting talent, and share practical insights across the Māori economy.
Each Hui-ā-Tau focuses on a theme chosen by the Executive or organising ohu, with events spanning one to three days. Attendees connect kanohi-ki-te-kanohi, complete CPD, and engage in kaupapa uniquely grounded in Māori commerce, governance, and finance. Recent hui and related major events include Wellington’s 2023 Hui-ā-Tau at Pipitea Marae, and the 2024 international summit Te Hui Taketake a Te Puna Tahua Toa in Rotorua.
Save-the-date notices, registration, and accommodation details are released on our site and channels as each hui opens. For the latest dates and programme, please check our events page.
Whakatipu Rautaki o Te Ōhanga Māori - Evolving Māori Economies through Sovereignty, Sustainability, and Systems Innovation
Novotel Auckland Airport | Friday 7 November 2025
For nearly two decades, Hui-ā-Tau has stood as the flagship gathering of Te Puna Tahua Toa (formerly Ngā Kaitatau Māori o Aotearoa). It’s more than a conference — it’s where the sharpest minds in Māori accounting, finance, governance, and business come together to chart the future of our economy.
This year’s Hui-ā-Tau will ignite kōrero on the big challenges and opportunities ahead — from economic sovereignty and digital futures to regenerative economies and the cultural anchors that keep us grounded. Expect provocative keynotes, inspiring panels, hands-on workshops, and a dinner celebration that connects rangatira, practitioners, and emerging leaders across Aotearoa and beyond.
Check out our Programme for information on kaupapa and speakers: 2025 Hui-ā-tau Programme
Hui-ā-Tau thrives because of the support of our partners and the wisdom of our speakers:
